Tipat Cantok

Bali Culinary - Tipat is the same with ketupat or ketipat. Cantok means to pestle. Does it mean that we have to eat pertling ketupat? No it does not. Tipat cantok is one of many kind traditional bali culinair that really really easy to get in every corner of town, suburban even village. Imagine how welknown this food is.

All right, tipat cantok is food that consist from some small piece of ketupat (usually in one mouthful) with various of boiled vegetables. Most seen vegetables are kangkung, kecambah, long beans, kecipir and many more. Some food are added such as small pieces of fried tofu. All the ingredients are mixed with nuts sauce. This sauce then pestled and with the way to make it comes the name tipat cantok.


The nuts sauce usually added with salt, garlic, shallot fry, chili for hot lover, petis (please request without petis for vegetarians), bali sugar or brown sugar with little amount of water and lime so the taste and the smell will be fresh.

Tipat cantok is served on a plate with spoon and fork, spread with fried onion, mentik nuts (fried red nuts that almost grow with bud) and in some places also completed with pindang taluh or egg that boiled with salt and some spices.

If you want to taste the real taste of tipat cantok, a simpla atmosphere of warung with friendly service and many traditional cakes choices, just visiti the nearest warung tipat cantok. You can ask this: “bli, dija wenten warung tipat cantok nampek deriki?” Means “where is the near warung tipat cantok?”. But if you want a restaurant atmosphere, you can find it in restaurant or café in sanur or kuta.
